Aberdeen Music Venues
There is nothing we like more here at Guitar Lessons Aberdeen than a good gig! We know our guitar students agree so we have compiled a short list of what we think are the best places to go and see live music in and around Aberdeen. They are also awesome places to try and get your first gig if you are a budding local band! In no order...
The Tunnels is one of Aberdeen's top music venue, rocking audiences with artists like The Kooks, Kate Nash, Gallows, Reverend and the Makers, Enter Shikari and Hot Chip! Since opening in 2005 the Tunnels has captured the local music scene providing quality live acts drawn from an international array of artists. Covering all genres the venue showcases some of the best local acts while drawing in sell out crowds (300+) watching some of the best in the business do their stuff! It is a great night out too, with a quirky building and a spooky feel! Top night out!
The Moorings Bar, this is the place to come and watch rock, metal and thrash guitar! An awesome venue for those of you who like something a little heavier when it comes to guitar music. The Moorings Bar has seen the likes of Downfall, Man of the Hour and Blaze Bayley (the band of the former Iron Maiden frontman) rip up the stage, with packed audiences and some seriously awesome solos! They also have one of the best websites in the country, trust me you will love their pirate themed site - really is nothing else quite like it!
The Aberdeen Exhibition and Conference Centre is Aberdeens big live music venue where international artists drawn from around the world come to rock audiences. 2012 will see the likes of Florence & the Machine, The Killers, Jessie J and Plan B perform, as well as comedy sets from all your usual suspects like Michael McIntyer, John Bishop, Kevin Bridges as well as Eddie Izzard. In 1997 Oasis played sell out two night gig at the AECC, with AC/DC and Neil Young rocking audiences a few years later - as well as artists such as blink-182, Rihanna, Jay-Z, 50 Cent, Katy Perry and Lady Gaga performing in the last few years! It is well worth keeping your eye on who is playing at the AECC as no doubt some of your favourite big bands will be playing here over the next few years! Great venue too!
